I love to watch the hummingbirds when we’re up north. It’s especially fun to watch them chase each other away from the feeder.
This really is kinda pretty when viewed large. (If I do say so myself.)
Why the title “picnic”? Because not only is this Day 158 of my 365 project, it’s my Day 2 assignment for Creativity Boot Camp.
From the moment I read that “picnic” was the word prompt for Day 2, I thought of ants. And I knew where to find them: out on the peonies in my backyard. And there were plenty of ants on those peonies. But then I noticed that some of my lilies had bloomed, and this ant was enjoying his own picnic.
Another part of the Day 2 assignment was to start getting comfortable calling myself an artist. I actually am starting to feel like one. I wonder how strong that feeling will be on June 18, the last day of Boot Camp. I’ll let you know.
I went outside late this afternoon looking for some inspiration and walked up to study the lilac bushes. I never realized how beautiful they were in winter. When I got back inside, Jim was just getting back from shopping, and I could smell what I thought were fresh lilacs. It was a basket of fresh plants, including some hyacinth.
It almost feels like spring.
I ordered a new lens last week: a 50mm f/1.4. It was scheduled to arrive today at my office. I waited. And waited. And then waited some more. When the UPS driver hadn’t shown up by long after his usual time, I tracked the order. Crap. I had selected my office’s old address as the shipping address. Crap!
Three phone calls to B&H and two phone calls to UPS later, I was resigned to the fact that I would not be getting my new lens today. So I went home and shot the shot I was planning to shoot with that new lens … with the only lens I have in my bag right now: a 28-135mm kit lens.
Crap. It turned out dang nice.
